May 28, 2010Earth From SpaceThe Earth from space - reflected in an astronaut's faceplate as he takes his own photo. Original article with larger image.
April 23, 2010Pale Blue DotLooking back at Earth from distant space. Tthis is an actual photo image (read the complete description), taken by Voyager 1 from a distance of more than 4 billion miles. Earth is the little dot in the band of light right of center and a bit more than half way down: April 17, 2010Houston, We Have a ProblemIt's the 40th anniversary of Apollo 13's having a little problem. This image was taken by the astronauts as the damaged module drifted away - you can see where a panel was blown off by the explosion. A dramatic reminder no matter how well planned your activities, chances are from time to time you will face a crisis, have to think fast and improvise. December 11, 2009ClimateGateI try not to post on politically charged topics. However, sometimes I can't resist.... "Climategate" is the name being used for the emails hacked from a major Climate Change science center. In case you haven't read the actual emails from the East Anglia Climate Center, but are simply listening to the assessment that they do not throw any doubt on the reality of Global Warming: December 06, 2009It's A Big Beautiful Universe Out ThereNovember 26, 2009ThanksgivingHappy Thanksgiving everybody. I hope and trust you have much to be thankful for. May we all have even oh so much more to be thankful for next year. November 06, 2009PartnersJust finished reading Groundswell, highly recommended book on using social networking technologies in marketing, publicity and promotion. Written by two employees at Forrester Research, they said this in their acknowledgments: We're very glad to have come to the end of this project as close friends, rather than, say, having strangled each other. Having conducted many mediations between business partners, I can only say "amen!" November 01, 2009BillionsOctober 28, 2009A Cool CarThe only cool car Studebaker ever made....

September 19, 2009Yes, That's CheeseCheddar I suppose.... September 09, 2009CluesWords fascinate me. The word "clue" originally meant a ball-shaped mass, ultimately from a Sansksrit word meaning "ball." Then it meant a ball of yarn or thread. Then a thread as a guide through a maze. And finally its current meanings. And then, of course, in modern idioms and usages such as "clueless" "get a clue" and "hit him with a clue-bat." Fascinating. Just kidding. Now and then I can't resist going on a rant. I won't rant, but I'll say it: Surely we are living in a mad, mad world. The new head of General Motors, one of the largest corporations in the world, doesn't know anything about cars. But he says he's not too old to learn! And business is business! Come to think of it, I don't really need to say anything about it, do I? May 25, 2009Now THAT'S DancingLindy Hop scene from "Hellzapoppin", 1941 May 23, 2009Sometimes You Just Need A Break

March 07, 2009Completely Off TopicJust in case there was any question on the Obama Administration's orientation and priorities. This week, Tim Geithner, the Treasury Secretary, announced that they were opposed to tax exemptions for the oil and gas industry, but instead intended to increase taxes on them, because of their contributions to global warming. Not the EPA or the Energy Secretary. The TREASURY Secretary. In the midst of the biggest banking / finance crisis in 75 years. December 11, 2008Completely Off TopicDoes anybody besides me think that we live on a mad, mad, mad, mad world? The USA, surely one of the freest and best off countries in the world, just finished our presidential elections last month. Now the job of the President is, I believe, to run the U.S. government - an organization with millions of employees. I would think that the primary qualification for that would be demonstrated managerial competence. What difference does it make what policies or goals one espouses, if you don't have the ability to make them happen? I'm not that great a fan of Mitt Romney, but he was the only candidate from either party who was qualified on that basis. And he didn't come close to being the Republican candidate, despite spending many millions of dollars. Why? Because he is a member of a religion which is less than 200 years old, and therefore a very large percentage of voters would not vote for him. In fact, something like 30% of voters felt it was perfectly okay to say they wouldn't vote for him for that reason. The "dirty little secret" - really, the 600 pound gorilla in the room of American politics, is that neither the Democrats nor the Republicans are CAPABLE of delivering most of what they promise. And yet, year after year, election after election, despite broken promise after broken promise, Americans continue to vote for candidates based on what they promise - plus such irrelevancies as their religion, race, age, gender and how well they speak. Not to speak of demostrably false rumors. Does that make sense? And don't tell me that is proof that America is bad or some such nonsense. It is worse in most other countries. November 25, 2008Great GraphicThis has nothing to do with marketing. It's just a really cool graphic. Every street in the continental US. February 20, 2008The Importance of Having an Electronic Filing System That Anyone Can Use.I bring this up because of a recent incident with a client, not to point fingers at one person but this happens often with new clients. This just happens to be the preverbal last straw. I should first clarify what I mean by an “Electronic Filing System”...
